I’m Paul Irvine – a walking talking history of modern computing from punch-cards and green screens to client-server to web architectures, and mobile devices.

Today, in 2025, I provide consulting and custom systems development services. I’ve been recognized by CIO Magazine’s CIO 100 awards on three occasions – the Agile 100, the Bold 100, and the Innovation 100. I founded my first startup in 1985 building custom solutions and products that sold globally. Since 1984, I’ve been using Data Driven Requirements Modeling (it didn’t have a name back then, I just did what worked!) to develop custom applications that meet stakeholder needs, meet budget and schedule, and have stability and longevity. Some of my solutions have enjoyed lifecycles in excess of ten years with minimal support and maintenance. They just work!

Fractional CTO/CIO – I have worked as a consulting technology leader for many companies over the last 20 years, sometimes all that was needed was a gentle hand on the tiller, and 15 hours a week. I’ve been an engineering manager, founder/entrepreneur, technology executive, analyst and developer since 1979. You can find me on linkedin.

DDRM Coaching – I can provide several types of coaching for you and your team to help make sure your next project is a raving success!

Individual Coaching – we have one or more virtual sessions together where we can practice what you’ve learned in the book. This should be enough for you to lead your team in your next requirements effort.

Team Coaching – if you want to get all your team members excited and involved – product managers, designers, leadership, engineering – we can do a group coaching session to make sure everyone understands what and why, and set you up for success together.

Join Your Team – for maximum results, I am available to join your team in a part-time capacity, to lead your requirements gathering work.

Outside my consulting work life, I’m a recording artist with original rock music available on spotify, amazon, tidal, deezer, and most streaming platforms worldwide. My first EP is “Shape it in Your Mind”, by Paul James Irvine. It has been over 40 years since I was a struggling musician back in the bad old days where you had to have record label backing to afford to produce music. In 2023, I was offered a place on Aurally Records, part of Jay-Z’s empire, and I could not resist!
